Goodnight Scholars Selection

The Goodnight Scholars Program, funded by a gift from Dr. Jim and Ann Goodnight, began 10 years ago with 25 scholars. Since that time, it has grown into a comprehensive student development program designed to develop scholars into leaders within the STEM and/or education fields.

This is the second year that the prestigious scholarship has been extended to transfer applicants who obtain an associate degree (AA, AS, or AE) from a North Carolina community college by fall 2018. The application closed on March 26 and the Goodnight Scholars office received over 100 applications – more than double of what they received in their first year. Out of the applications received, 15 candidates will receive a scholarship valued at $60,000.

The first week of April, the Goodnight Scholars office will notify candidates of their status and invite 30 students to participate in the Transfer Finalist Interview Day scheduled for April 28. Scholarship decisions will be released on May 3.
