Answers to Common Questions

Below are answers to the most common questions we receive this time of year. We hope these will help you easily assist your students with the application process to NC State.

Have you received my students’ transcripts?

The answer to that is likely yes, although it may not show up as received in the student’s wolfPAW account right away. We have received thousands of application documents with many more to come in the weeks ahead. We tell all students and families that it typically takes up to two weeks from the time we receive a student’s supplemental documents for the documents to be processed and reflected in their wolfPAW accounts.

Additional application materials, transcripts, and test scores will still be considered if received up to two weeks after the January 15th regular decision deadline. We accept official high school transcripts submitted via Common Application, Coalition Application, US Postal mail, and other recognized transcript delivery services (Naviance, Parchment, and CFNC).

Can a student request to change their major?

We review applications based on the major students select. We can no longer grant major change requests for early action applicants since we are currently reviewing their applications. If an applicant would like to request a change in major after they receive their decision in January, they should email undergrad-admissions@ncsu.edu and request the change in writing. Regular decision freshman can continue to request major changes at this time by emailing undergrad-admissions@ncsu.edu.

What test dates will be considered for the regular decision deadline?

The December SAT and ACT exams are the last test dates that we can guarantee that we will receive scores in time to review for regular decision. All scores must be received electronically by early March to be considered in time to receive an admissions decision on March 30.
