International Application Procedure

Apply Online: International Freshman Applicants

Choose only one of our application options: the Common Application or the Coalition Application.

A complete application includes:

Letters of Recommendation are not required and not recommended. The College Report, Secondary School Final Report, and Mid-term Report on the Common Application are not required and not recommended.

Once you submit your application, keep up with your application status through your wolfPAW account.  Also remember to frequently check your email for updates throughout the application process.

Your decision is made on a rolling basis and will be displayed on your wolfPAW account after your complete application has been received and reviewed. See Dates and Deadlines for international application deadline dates.

Official Documents

Documents are considered official if they meet one of the following criteria:

  • The issuing institution sends them directly to NC State.
  • They are certified as true copies by an official of the educational institution, and embassy official, or an appropriate government official.

International Transfer

Choose only one of our application options: the Common Application or the Coalition Application.

A complete application includes:

  • application submitted through the Common Application or the Coalition Application
  • a non-refundable $100 application fee.  International applicants do not qualify for fee waivers.
  • course-by-course evaluation for any coursework completed at any college or university outside the U.S.
  • official transcript from each college and/or university attended
  • proof of English proficiency
  • official secondary school transcripts and external examination results (Records not issued in English must be accompanied by an English translation that is certified by an appropriate school official, official translator, or U.S. embassy or consulate official.)
  • Certificate of Financial Responsibility (only required for students needing F-1 and J-1 visas)

ACT or SAT scores are not required for Transfer applicants.

Course-by-Course Evaluation for International Transfer Students

Students who have attended any college or university outside the U.S. will need to submit a course-by-course evaluation.

Please note: The course-by-course evaluation is used only to determine if admissions requirements have been met. Your academic department determines how many foreign university credits will transfer to NC State University.
