Fall 2018 Admission Statistics

Congratulations to your admitted students! Encourage your students to connect with NC State and other admitted students on social media by using #IChoseNCState. Once accepted, we encourage students to begin reviewing the New Student Checklist, which serves as a step-by-step guide for everything that needs to be completed from now until the first day of class. Students must confirm their enrollment by May 1- they can respond to our offer of admission by logging into their wolfPAW account.

We received over 29,640 applications by the final application deadline for the 4,490 spaces available in the Fall 2018 freshman class. We have admitted 46 percent of this year’s applicant pool. Admitted students represent all 100 of North Carolina’s counties, all 50 states and the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The academic stats for the admitted freshman class of 2018 are below:

• ACT Composite Average: 29
• Weighted HS GPA average: 4.57
• Unweighted HS GPA average: 3.81
• Average Rank in Class: 11%
• In the top 10 percent of their high school class: 60%
• In the top 20 percent of their high school class: 84%
• 463 Valedictorians
• 287 Salutatorians
