Co-ops & Internships

Hands-on experience is just as important as high grades when it comes to landing your first job. That’s why NC State offers co-op and internship opportunities to students as early as their freshman year—those programs are simply the best way for you to learn about your field and get on-the-job experience and perhaps even a job offer upon graduation.
Our co-operative education program is one of the largest in the country, with more than 1,000 work rotations a year in a variety of fields. It’s your chance to learn what it’s really like to work in your chosen profession. You can work up to one full year in a relevant occupation, all while making important contacts and often earning credit toward professional certification.
Other opportunities for work experience include:
- University Career Center is a one-stop resource for students who want career counseling, interview tips or information about career fairs and other events. Many jobs and internship opportunities are posted on ePack.
- The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid maintains a list of part-time jobs for NC State students.
- The Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service offers service-oriented volunteer positions and internships.
- The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences helps their students find internships and jobs. For other opportunities related to your specific program, visit your individual college.
Undergraduate Research
Another great way to get experience is through an undergraduate research project. Working with proven scholars and professionals, you can conduct topical research in your chosen field.
