get in the game
Whether your outdoor passion is skiing and snowboarding (yes, it really does snow in parts of North Carolina), rodeo or water polo, there's a thriving club or intramural team for you to join so you can pursue your physical faves with others.
Intramural sports include basketball, bowling, racquetball, softball, and 4-on-4 flag football, with intramural leagues and special events for players of all skill levels.
Club sports include organizations devoted to 47 different sports, ranging from aikido to badminton, fencing to roller hockey, cricket, rowing, table tennis, Ultimate Frisbee (the men's team won the National Championships in 1999), wrestling, and more.
If it's fresh air you crave, you'll love Outdoor Adventures , a university-based group sponsoring affordable adventure trips like backpacking, kayaking and camping. If you want to practice in a controlled environment before hitting a whitewater rapid or difficult trail, you can take a recreation workshop before committing to a trip.
get fit, stay fit
For daily fitness, you'll find everything you need to stay in shape at Carmichael Gym Complex: an indoor track, dance studio, indoor rock-climbing wall, handball, basketball and racquet courts, an aerobics studio, fencing, golf and weight rooms, and more. All current fee-paying students can access the gym and take advantage of the many fitness opportunities and amenities.
The new Carmichael Recreation Center is located at the south end of the Carmichael Complex. It offers three stories of fitness, cardio, and leisure space. It features a juice and smoothie bar, four aerobic studios and over 10,000 square feet of new cardio and weight training equipment.

NC State University athletes don't just rock it on the field, court, mat, lane, course, ring, range and track. They also rock it in the classroom with GPAs that land them on the ACC honor roll. More than 500 student-athletes compete in 23 varsity sports at NC State.
