John York
With a sister already attending NC State and his own lifelong visions of joining the Wolfpack family, it was easy for John York to decide where to apply for college. In fact, NC State was the only university he applied for.
"I had no interest in any other schools, because I knew that NC State would meet all of my social and academic needs," York said. "My sister also was a factor in my choosing NC State – I was able to view how her life had been –and still is being – benefited from attending NC State, and realize that I could also gain this benefit."
A resident mentor for First-Year College, York is an ambassador for the university and the College of Textiles, and still has time to participate in a number of intramural and leadership events on campus.
"So much is offered at NC State University to ensure that its students are provided the opportunity to succeed in life," he said. "The vast number of opportunities that are offered at NC-State are priceless.
"I have had wonderful faculty members that have poured into my life, helping to prepare and strengthen me for life after college," York said. "Being a student at NC State is not only a privilege, but also an honor."
