admissions criteria - college of engineering

Competitive applicants for transfer admission to the College of Engineering will have a minimum of 30 hours of transferable credits and academic credentials that exceed the following:
- English Composition I
- English Composition II
- Chemistry with lab (CH 101 & 102)
- Calculus I (MA 141)
- Calculus II (MA 241)
- 2.5+ GPA in the last two Calculus or higher level mathematics courses
- Calculus-based Physics (PY 205)
- GPA Minimum Requirements:
- Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering: 3.5. Applicants with GPAs between 3.0 and 3.49 will be considered for fall admission after May 31 and decisions will be announced July 1.
- Biomedical Engineering: 3.5 in addition to an essay and other application materials required by the department. Admission decisions will be announced July 1. For more information please refer to the department’s website or contact Dr. Lianne Cartee (lacartee@ncsu.edu, tel. 919-515-6726).
- Other programs: 3.0 (will consider for exceptions if GPA is 2.7+ for Computer Science or 2.5 for other programs)

AP scores considered for meeting admission requirements:
- AP Calculus BC = 4 or 5
- AP Chemistry = 3, 4 or 5
- Physics C = 3, 4 or 5
- AP English Language and Composition = 5
