NC State Student Media

Post by Marcus Spruill

Here on NC State’s campus there are many ways for students to get involved, from different social organizations to independent volunteer opportunities. Student Media is a big part of our campus. You may choose to get involved in the Technician or the Nubian Message, our campus wide newspapers, the Agromeck, the campus yearbook, WKNC 88.1, the campus radio station, and the Windhover, NC State’s Literary and Visual Magazine.

The Technician and the Nubian Message are our campus wide newspapers. The Technician is published every day while the Nubian Message is published every Wednesday. This past November was the Nubian Message’s 20th anniversary. The Technician first began back in 1920. They can be found at different newspaper stands all around campus.

WKNC 88.1 is our local radio station. It is also run by students. Students are allowed to place a request for a song they would like to hear. Students who are not a part of WKNC 88.1 are sometimes brought on the show in order to participate in an interview or for a guest piece.

The Windhover, our literary and visual magazine has a few different components to it. It contains art pieces, photography, poems, short stories, and other pieces that are not able to be put in any of these categories.

There are so many things for students to do. If you’re creative and have a knack for writing, drawing, photography, or anything else, one of these organizations could be your niche. Take the time to research and see what you think you may like best.
