Union Activities Board

Post by Marcus Spruill

The Union Activities Board is a student run organization that is committed to bringing the student population together by hosting different events on campus throughout the year. Their main priority is the students. In order to find out what we as students would like to see happen on campus they use surveys. Inside of UAB, there are also a few subcommittees; Black Students Board, Diversity Activities board, Films, Issues and ideas, Leisure and Environment, and Marketing. There are many places where a student is able to get involved. They can also always use volunteers. If you ever need some hours for a class or organization this is a great place to start.
Some of the annual events that one can help with that are hosted by UAB are the Back to School Jam, and Welcome week. Hundreds of students attend these events and volunteers are always needed. Another event that UAB put on this year is our homecoming concert. This concert was headlined by Wale and featured the band Gloriana.

One of the major things UAB also does is run the Campus Cinema. If you ever want to catch a movie but don’t want to pay regular price, the campus cinema will show movies for only $2 with a student id. Sneak previews before the movie comes out in other theaters also take place here sometimes. For example, earlier this semester Paranormal Activity was shown before it was released in other theaters. Make sure to be on the lookout for any events they have going on!
